Re: Question about H.248 Annex F
by Christian Groves 10 Oct '05

10 Oct '05

G'Day Sasha, H.248.1 Annex F is meant to contain exactly the same procedures as the core H.248.1 servicechange sections. It aims to clarify the existing text and not add any new requirements. So Annex F should be valid for all versions (1,2,3) with the following caveats: - We added new service change functionality in H.248.1v3 and this was reflected in Annex F this new functionality will not be relevant to v1 and v2. - With the advent of v3 we won't be supporting v1 through the implementors' guide, so we weren't looking too much Annex F compliance with v1 when we were producing the annex. It won't become part of the implementors guide for v1 and v2 as the core H.248.1 specification takes precedence over the Annex. However v1 and v2 implementors may read H.248.1 v3 annex F for further clarification. Regards, Christian Sasha Ruditsky wrote: > Hi > > In version 3 of H.248.1 the new Annex F was introduced which clarifies > ServiceChange procedures. > Is this annex is expected to affect versions 1 and 2 of H.248, i.e. > for example it is going to become part of implementors guide for those > versions? > If the answer is no then what is the expected behavior of the version > 1 and 2 H.248 entities relevant to the procedures described in Annex F. > > Thanks, > Sasha

Question about H.248 Annex F
by Sasha Ruditsky 07 Oct '05

07 Oct '05

Hi In version 3 of H.248.1 the new Annex F was introduced which clarifies ServiceChange procedures. Is this annex is expected to affect versions 1 and 2 of H.248, i.e. for example it is going to become part of implementors guide for those versions? If the answer is no then what is the expected behavior of the version 1 and 2 H.248 entities relevant to the procedures described in Annex F. Thanks, Sasha

Every participant should use the registration form at: http://ftp3.itu.int/av-arch/avc-site/2005-2008/0511_Gen/0511-WP2-16-Regist ration_form.doc. AND advise (cc.) the Rapporteur (patrick.luthi(a)tandberg.no) of your attendance by e-mail. Early registration of your attendance is welcome and encouraged, but preferably before 18 November 2005 to facilitate the production of badges for all participants. People needing visa support letters (see below for requirements) should register as soon as possible. We would remind you that citizens of some countries are required to obtain a visa in order to enter and spend time in Switzerland. The visa must be requested and obtained from the office (embassy or consulate) representing Switzerland in your country or, if there is no such office in your country, from the one that is closest to the country of departure. If problems are encountered, for ITU members, the ITU can, at the official request of the administration or company you represent, approach the competent Swiss authorities in order to facilitate delivery of the visa. Visa requests should be made by official letter from the administration or company you represent. This letter must specify your name and function, date of birth, passport number as well as the date of issue and expiration. The letter must be accompanied by a photocopy of your passport and completed registration form and must be sent to TSB, bearing the words "visa request", by fax (No.: +41 22 730 5853) or e-mail (tsbreg(a)itu.int) Please note that the Union needs at least one week to process all papers required for the delivery of a visa. For the ones needing this letter, TSB should receive a meeting registration form which can be found at: http://ftp3.itu.int/av-arch/avc-site/2005-2008/0511_Gen/0511-WP2-16-Regist ration_form.doc. 7. Hotel Room Reservation ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Participants should contact the hotels directly for finding your room availability and making room bookings. Hotels offering preferential room rates for ITU participants are found at: http://www.itu.int/travel/index.html. An appropriate hotel reservation form can be found at: http://ftp3.itu.int/av-arch/avc-site/2005-2008/0511_Gen/0511-WP2-16-Hotel- reservation-form.doc. Please note that participants must use this hotel reservation form, or they would NOT get the special ITU rates. Note: the closest business-class hotel to the ITU buildings is the Intercontinental, and a more popular strategy is to obtain hotel accommodations downtown, e.g., near the Cornavin train & bus station (which is more centrally located than the ITU or the Intercontinental), from which buses run frequently to the vicinity of the ITU. Not all hotels are equipped with high-speed internet access, so participants may want to check with the hotel for the availability of this service. I am looking forward to meeting with you in Geneva. Sincerely yours, Patrick Luthi ---------- ** CRM114 Whitelisted by: simao.campos(a)itu.int **

Participants must bring along a laptop, wireless LAN card and/or Ethernet card, in order to access the documents. (Internet access will be available in the meeting rooms). 5. Logistic Information ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ The meeting will be hosted by ITU-TSB at the Montbrillant building of the ITU Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. Badges will be available in the registration desk at the entrance of the Montbrillant building to those that registered for the meeting. Following new security measures implemented in ITU in early August 2005, no one without a valid badge will be admitted into the facilities. 6. Registration and VISA Information ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ To register your meeting attendance, please send e-mail to Seong-Ho Jeong <shjeong(a)hufs.ac.kr>, providing the family name, given name, company name, address, country name, phone number, fax number, e-mail address of person(s) attending. Every participant should use the registration form at: http://ftp3.itu.int/av-arch/avc-site/2005-2008/0511_Gen/0511-WP2-16-Regist ra tion_form.doc. If problems are encountered for ITU members, the ITU can, at the official request of the administration or company you represent, approach the competent Swiss authorities in order to facilitate delivery of the visa. Visa requests should be made by official letter from the administration or company you represent. This letter must specify your name and function, date of birth, passport number as well as the date of issue and expiry. The letter must be accompanied by a photocopy of your passport and completed registration form and must be sent to TSB, bearing the words "visa request", by fax (No.: +41 22 730 5853) or e-mail (tsbreg(a)itu.int) Please note that ITU needs at least one week to process all papers required for the delivery of a visa. For the ones needing this letter, TSB should receive a meeting registration form which can be found at: http://ftp3.itu.int/av-arch/avc-site/2005-2008/0511_Gen/0511-WP2-16-Regist ra tion_form.doc. 7. Hotel Room Reservation ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Participants should contact the hotels directly regarding room availability and for making room bookings. Hotels offering preferential room rates for participants of ITU meetings are found at: http://www.itu.int/travel/index.html. An appropriate hotel reservation form can be found at: http://ftp3.itu.int/av-arch/avc-site/2005-2008/0511_Gen/0511-WP2-16-Hotel- re servation-form.doc. Please note that this hotel reservation form must be used in order to be able to get the special ITU rates. Not all hotels are equipped with high-speed internet access, so you participants may want to check with the hotel for the availability of this service. We are looking forward to meeting with you in Geneva. Sincerely yours, Patrick LUTHI Paul JONES Christian GROVES Sakae OKUBO (document manager of this meeting) Bastien LAMER Noah LUO Seong-Ho JEONG (meeting organizer of this meeting) Martin EUCHNER Leo LEHMANN ----------

Dear colleagues, can someone help this engineer from Brazil? I will translate his two questions: 1) When RRq fails in H.225.0 and there is a retransmission, requestSeqNum is repeated. His question is, what does he use as the timestamp? I presume it remains the same. 2) What happens with the timestamp when summer savings time (clock is adjusted one hour ahead or behind) starts? I presume if it changes outside a session, it is business as usual; if it changes in the middle of a session, then it should stick to the original one, and start +,- 1 hour for the next sessions open. Please copy any replies to him at: José Antonio Mechaileh jmechail(a)terra.com.br as he does not subscribe to this mailing list. Thanks! Estou com uma dúvida a respeito de H.225 e não estou achando a resposta: quando um RRQ falha por algum motivo e ocorre uma retransmissão, o valor de "requestSeqNum" é repetido. Ver abaixo: "requestSeqNum in messages is used to keep track of multiple outstanding requests. Any associated response messages (success or failure) shall have the corresponding requestSeqNum returned with it. Retransmitted messages shall have the same requestSeqNum. RequestSeqNum increments by 1 modulo 65536."

GenericInformation field in contribution D.162
by Albert Wong 29 Jul '05

29 Jul '05

Hi, Sasha and experts, Regarding to the presentation of the contribution D.162 at the Q.2 meeting today, I searched too quickly to the ASN.1 structure. Instead, the issues that I found to adding the proposed GenericInformation field to UserInputIndication and EndSessionCommand messages should not have "SEQUENCE OF". Reasons are: - as GenericInformation is equivalent to GenericMessage or similar to GenericCapability, indeed no other CHOICE structure using it has "SEQUENCE OF" - The use of GenericInformation in UserInputIndication and EndSessionCommand messages are also expected to be declared in TerminalCapabilitySet. Since each GenericInformation message has its own messageIdentifier, if "SEQUENCE OF" exists, the same message can have more than one modes simultaneously, causing confusion and potentially interoperability problem. If more than one modes are expected, a nested GenericParameter could be specified. Therefore, I think it is not suitable to use "SEQUENCE OF" for the proposed GenericInformation in UserInputIndication and EndSessionCommand messages. Please let me know if you have the same view. Best Regards, Albert. --- Albert Wong Principal Engineer Dilithium Networks TEL: +1 707 792 3901 FAX: +1 707 795 3744 MOB: +1 415 299 7907 <mailto:albert.wong@dilithiumnetworks.com> albert.wong(a)dilithiumnetworks.com Communications for a Borderless World This electronic message contains information from Dilithium Networks Pty Ltd which may be privileged or confidential.
