Dear WP2/16 experts, We will hold the following two Rapporteur meetings before the next SG16 meeting in April 2008: 1/ Q13/16 meeting on 17 and 18 December 2007 This is collocated with the FG IPTV meeting (11-18 December) whose place is to be shortly confirmed. 2/ Joint meeting of Q1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 12, 13, 21, 22, 24, 25 and 29/16 Date: 17-23 January 2008 (NOTE) Place: Seoul NOTE -- The date is one day shifted from the original plan of 16-22 January. This is to harmonize with the recently organized IPTV GSI event during 15-22 January 2008. Rapporteur meeting of Q1

Dear experts, Yesterday, October 17, was the deadline that I set to make a final decision on having or not having a Q1 Rapporteur meeting in January 2008 in Seoul. Having only received comments supporting not holding a Rapporteur meeting and having not been made aware of any potential contributions, I regretfully have to announce that there will be NO meeting of Q1/16 in January 2008. Our next meeting will take place in April 2008 in Geneva (SG16). In the interim, I encourage everyone to progress our work by e-mail correspondence. [itu-sg16] Work Programme for Question 2

Q2 Experts, There are several items on the work programme for Question 2 that we either need to remove or progress. In particular, consider these two items: . H.460.geo - Geographic information in H.323 systems . H.460.presence - Presence information in H.323 systems I had assumed that adding geographic information to H.323 would have been welcomed. It was accepted as a work item, but folks then later asked why it was necessary. Strictly speaking, perhaps it is not. However, there was a desire to enable users to provide geographic information (both coordinate and street address) information to a called party. This might be for emergency services, or simply to let a friend know where you are. This document was considered largely complete, but has not been updated since AVD-2669 <http://ftp3.itu.int/av-arch/avc-site/2005-2008/0502_Mel/AVD-2669.zip> was published. I do not know how stale this is with respect to the work in the IETF GEOPRIV working group. Recently, I was asked about this, but I do not know how much interest there really is. We have debated several times whether it is even appropriate to add presence to an H.323 system, especially since external protocols like XMPP are well-designed for providing precisely this kind of capability. Others have argued that, indeed, we do need it. We've never reached a consensus and progress has suffered as a result. I would like to hear opinions (either on the list or privately) as to what you think we should do with both of these. Thanks, Paul

[Megaco] New Draft on IANA H.248 Package Registrations procedures

Hello all, I have recently submitted a new Internet Draft <http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-groves-megaco-pkgereg-00.txt> on updating the H.248 IANA package registration procedures. The draft is based on the changes that were contained in Amendment 1 to H.248.1 Version 3. As part of the ITU AAP process the Real Time Apps Area Director (Cullen) provided some comments on the Amendment 1 H.248 package registration procedures that he thought would make them more IETF/IANA friendly. The Internet Draft was created to capture those comments in order to feed back into the ITU AAP process to ensure that the ITU and the IETF are in agreement on the procedures. The intention is move this draft forward rather quickly, so if you have any comments please let me know.
