Meeting in Santa Barbara

Glen, Paul, etc. Due to the tragedy on Tuesday, travel has been extremely confused. Although domestic air travel has restarted, it is and will continue to be extremely problematic for the foreseeable future. Airports are being closed with no notice for "FBI activities." Many companies, including ours, have banned all air travel. All international flights on international carriers have been banned until further notice. As a reference, SG11 has canceled their meetings. Therefore, I strongly suggest that the Santa Barbara meeting be postponed, or canceled. It is better if this was not necessary; but I fear that it is necessary. Santa Barbara meeting

Colleagues, The current list of registered contributions for the Santa Barbara meeting is available on the avc-site (see ftp://standard.pictel.com/avc-site/0109_San/0109_San.htm). Remember that this Friday (14 September) is the last day to register a contribution for the meeting. We currently have 37 contributions registered. After Tuesday's events here in the U.S., I've heard from a few people that their travel to the U.S. has been restricted, so will not be able to attend the meeting. If you had registered or otherwise planned to attend the Santa Barbara meeting, but no longer plan to attend, please send an email to me (ggf(a)avaya.com), Sakae Okubo (okubo(a)giti.waseda.ac.jp), Paul Jones (paulej(a)packetizer.com), Martin Euchner (martin.euchner(a)icn.siemens.de), Tom Taylor (taylor(a)nortelnetworks.com), and Paul Reddy (paul.k.reddy(a)intel.com) as soon as possible. Address Translation

Hi, At the end of section 7.1.3 (Alias Address), the H.323 specification mentions "An endpoint may have more than one alias address(including more than one of the same type) which is translated to the same Transport Address". Q1) Does it means that "Among the alias addresses for an endpoint, some of them can be translated to a Transport Address (say A) and some of them can be translated to another Transport Address (say B)" ? Q1-1) If it is so, can an endpoint have more than one Call Signaling Channel Transport Address? Q1-1-1) And is there any way for mapping these alias addresses to specific Transport Addresses? Hi Folks, I was just wondering: if the gatekeeper sends a URQ to an endpoint that has a call in progress, what should happen to this call ? Should it be cleared ? It is possible to give me an indication where I could find this information on the standard ? This document is the product of the IP Telephony Working Group. The IESG contact persons are Allison Mankin and Scott Bradner. Technical Summary This document presents the Telephony Routing over IP (TRIP). TRIP is a policy driven inter-administrative domain protocol for advertising the reachability of telephony destinations between location servers, and for advertising attributes of the routes to those destinations. TRIP's operation is independent of any signaling protocol, hence TRIP can serve as the telephony routing protocol for any signaling protocol. TRIP is modeled after the Border Gateway Protocol 4 (BGP-4) and enhanced with some link state features as in the Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) protocol, IS-IS, and the Server Cache Synchronization Protocol (SCSP). TRIP uses BGP's inter-domain transport mechanism, BGP's peer communication, BGP's finite state machine, and similar formats and attributes as BGP. Unlike BGP however, TRIP permits generic intra-domain LS topologies, which simplifies configuration and increases scalability in contrast to BGP's full mesh requirement of internal BGP speakers. TRIP uses an intra-domain flooding mechanism similar to that used in OSPF, IS-IS, and SCSP. Hi Vivek The only function of TPKT is to define message boundaries. Annex E has own mechanisms to do this. So basically I think that should be no TPKT header in the Q.931 messages when used with Annex E. Hello, I wanted to poll the H323 community regarding the use of TPKT header with H225 message while using AnnexE transport capability. AnnexE makes the UDP a reliable signaling channel. H.323 spec talks of using TPKT header with reliable signaling channel. What is your interpretation of H323/AnnexE regarding the TPKT header? Dear all, first of all I would like to join Christian in his condolances especially to the victims' families, but also to all American colleagues for this terrible act. Though physically a US location was hit, but that is an essential part of our global village, so we have been equally hit. At the same time, I think we have to work out some sort of emergency plans. In addition to restrictions imposed by companies such as reported by Ericsson, I personally do not expect, but it might be that flights to the US remain impossible for some time as the airspace and airports might remain closed, plus stranded people have to be brought home first, so by what time do we have to make a final decision to go ahead with the meeting, or to postpone, or to cancel it entirely?
