Hal,

    The problem with this approach is that many companies use an outgoing
email address that is different/modified from the users incoming address,
so users would have to register both addresses (once they figure out that
they have 2 addresses). I had this problem with a list that I maintained,
so I found it easier to open it up to allow anyone to post to it.
