All: Some concern was raised about being let into Chile and needed a yellow fever shot to leave. This does not appear to be the case. Dale Skran Q13 Rapporteur

To travel to Chile you will need...a valid passport, $45 entrance fee to the country, and nothing else. I spoke with the State Department (202-647-5225). They say to use common sense precautions in Chile...stay away from demonstrations by Chileans. US citizens are not at risk unless they get involved in these demonstrations.
The Chilean Embassy (202-785-1746) assured me that no immunizations were necessary for travel to Chile or exiting from Chile.
People,
From the US Government Center for Disease Control (CDC) "Health Information for Travelers to Temperate South America": http://www.cdc.gov/travel/temsam.htm
See also the CDC "Comprehensive Yellow Fever Vaccination Requirements": http://www.cdc.gov/travel/yelfever.htm
From enquiries to the Australian Government Department of Health, Tiphoid and Hepatitis A vaccinations are recommended for visitors to Santiago Chile.
The issue about Yellow Fever in South America seems to be in relation to tropical South America. This would include north-eastern Argentina. It may still be an issue for persons transiting (changing planes in) these areas. Regards, Douglas At 10:37 1999-03-07 -0500, Dale L. Skran wrote:
