We've had trouble today with the PictureTel ftp server. Please follow these guidelines when accessing this site to avoid causing these problems (especially in the next few days):

1. When you use the site, log on, do what you need to do rapidly, and log off. Long pauses keep other people from using the site and cause timeouts that leave the server in a bad state.

2. Don't use an http browser for ftp access. Use a stand-alone ftp tool instead. The browsers seem to exhibit behavior that causes difficulties for the server (like not quitting their sessions).

3. Turn off any automatic site mirroring programs for the next few days. Lots of people seem to be running these things and some of them seem to be clogging the system.

I continue to be trying to find a new JVT ftp site to rectify these problems.
