My question is regarding the encoding of the H.245 related properties listed in Table C/H.248. I presume that all these property values are encoded according to PER. Also that the entire MultimediaSystemControlPDU is encoded, instead of just the message structure. e.g to encode an OLC, we should encode the entire MultimediaSystemControlPDU that contains the OLC message, or just the OLC message structure.
I am asking this question because in the presence of "Tags" it is quite possible to live without encoding the entire MultimediaSystemControlPDU.

G'Day, The H.248/Megaco binary syntax uses BER. Annex C specifies the values of TLV for this encoding. However the value of a property may actually be encoded in PER. So thus in the OLC case its the PER encoding of the OLC structure. Christian Tom-PT Taylor wrote:

Thankyou for the detailed answer. H.248 Annex C.12 clearly mentions that only the OLC strucuture would be encoded in the as the Value in TLV structure but what about the H223LogicalChannelParameters or H225LogicalChannelParameters or others mentioned in the table C.2/H.248 Is it that only the H225LogicalChannelParameters structure will be encoded or the entire H.245 message "MultimediaSystemControlMessage" has to be encoded.
